The interest was shown while British High Commissioner in Dhaka Stephen Evans was addressing a seminar here Sunday.
Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) and the British High Commission jointly organized the seminar on “UK Trade and Investment”.
The envoy informed his business audience that Bangladesh’s export volume to the UK increased 68 percent this year over the previous year.
“But the volume could have been increased cent percent,” Stephen Evans said, calling upon the government to put emphasis on readymade garment, ceramic and power sectors.
Director of UK Trade and Investment department Kevin Regan presented the keynote paper in the seminar presided over by DCCI president Asif Ibrahim.
