Garment Workers Block Road in Mirpur

Garment workers block the road in Mirpur in the capital for nearly one hour  this (Wednesday, 28-04-2010) morning as several hundreds of garment workers took to the street demanding increase in their salary and other benefits.

Officer-in-charge of Kafrul Police Station Delwar Hossain told The Daily Star that the workers of Opex Garments blocked the street from Mirpur 13 to 14 at about 9:00am as a sequel to Tuesday’s agitation for pressing their demands.

The workers of the nearby garments also joined the procession demanding their pay hike.

People were stacked and got late to their work place during this time. The road communication became normal at about 10:00am in the morning after police rushed in and disperse them. After that, the angry workers was demonstrating in front of the Opex garments, located at Mirpur-13.
